Selectmen scheduled Dec. 3 for holding the Charlie Brown Christmas Tree Decorating Contest. The event is open to Edgecomb Eddy School students, residents, businesses and civic organizations. Selectmen plan on asking four people to judge this year’s contest. Selectman Dawn Murray proposed the event at the town hall so new residents could meet other community members. Murray moved to Edgecomb four years ago. She has served both on the school committee and select board. Murray supported an informal event where people can become more familiar with one another and discuss local issues.
“There are still a lot of people I don’t know. Most I know are still from either the school or as a selectman,” she said. “I think this is a good chance to meet each other and get to know more people.” Murray promised to serve coffee and Selectman Ted Hugger will serve muffins.
Selectmen ended the meeting with an executive session to discuss a legal matter. No action was taken following the session. Selectmen meet next at 6 p.m. Monday, Nov. 29.
