Sen. Cameron Reny sworn into Maine Senate
On Wednesday, Dec. 4, Sen. Cameron Reny, D-Bristol, was sworn into the Maine Senate. Sen. Reny was elected to her second term in the Senate in November.
Gov. Janet Mills administered the oath of office to Sen. Reny and her Senate colleagues, all of whom have been elected to serve two-year terms. She represents the good people of Senate District 13, which includes most of Lincoln County and the towns of Washington and Windsor.
“During my first term in the Maine Senate, I made good connections and working relationships with colleagues and constituents from both sides of the aisle, and it helped get things done. That’s why there was positive movement to address issues important to our district, like housing, climate resiliency and affordable health care,” said Sen. Reny. “As I’m being sworn into my second term, I want to see that progress continue by working together. My goal is strong communities and a good, sustainable future for our children and grandchildren.”
Sen. Reny served as Senate Chair of the Legislature’s Marine Resources Committee and as a member of the Health Coverage, Insurance, and Financial Services Committee. She was also a member of the Coastal and Marine Working Group on the Maine Climate Council.
The swearing-in ceremony was held in the Senate Chamber, and was attended by family and friends of the Senators, as well as the general public. A live stream of the event was made available to the general public, and can be viewed online at http://legislature.maine.gov/senate/.
Of the 35 total members of the Maine Senate, there are 20 Democrats and 15 Republicans. Fifteen are women, and 20 are men. There are seven new members of the Senate, three of which most recently served in the House of Representatives. Twenty-eight members are incumbents.
