Sen. Dow returns to Maine Yankee Community Advisory Panel
Senator Dana Dow (R-Lincoln) has once again agreed to serve on the Maine Yankee Community Advisory Panel (CAP) in the Lincoln County legislative delegation position.
Maine Yankee created CAP in 1997 to advise the company on decommissioning, site cleanup and nuclear fuel storage while providing opportunities for public education and input. While the site was fully decommissioned twelve years ago, CAP still oversees the storage of the spent nuclear fuel and high-level waste to ensure proper storage and compliance with all applicable regulations until the federal government removes the material, as mandated by the Nuclear Waste Policy Act.
Senator Dow previously served on the CAP from 2005-2008 during his first term in the Maine Senate. “The members of this panel work hard to ensure ongoing compliance and community awareness while working to have this waste finally removed from the decommissioned facility,” said Sen. Dow. “It’s an honor to have been asked to serve on this important advisory panel once again.”
