Sheriff’s Office promotes deputy to patrol sergeant
Deputy Matthew Day was promoted to the rank of sergeant on January 11. Sgt. Day has assumed his new duties as patrol sergeant and has joined three other sergeants in supervising daily patrol activities throughout Lincoln County.
“I am very pleased to make this announcement,” Sheriff Todd Brackett. “Sgt. Day is an excellent deputy sheriff and a fine addition to our supervisory team.” Day is a graduate of Lincoln Academy, he attended the University of Southern Maine, and he holds a bachelor’s degree in marketing management from Thomas College. He began his career as deputy sheriff with Lincoln County in 2004 and has excelled in the patrol division.
“The promotional process is challenging for the applicants, it is detailed and demanding,” Brackett said. Day was one of three applicants for the patrol sergeant position, along with Deputy Brian Collamore and Deputy Mark Bridgham.
“This was a difficult decision for me, as each of the three applicants were experienced and each did an outstanding job through the process. In fact, it was so close that only fractions separated Sgt. Day from each of the others when we tallied the final results,” Brackett said.
Day will undergo on the job training for the first several weeks as he settles into his new position. The men and women of the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office congratulate Sgt. Day and wish him the very best.
