Sheriff's report
Sheriff Todd Brackett reports the following:
On July 16, Deputy Kevin Dennison was dispatched to a complaint of a theft in the Dresden area. The complainant stated that she responded to an ad on the Craigslist website in order to sell a vehicle. After numerous correspondences, it was discovered that this was a scam. Deputy Dennison took all the information and forwarded to the Detective division for further investigation. Det. Ronald Rollins investigated further and found this is believed to be another Nigerian scam and not likely to be solved locally. The complainants are believed to be out approximately $550.
On July 16, Reserve Deputy Thomas Hoepner was dispatched to a report of theft of services of approximately $500 in the Dresden area. The complainant stated the within the last few days, a person called her twice and convinced her to give her credit card information to a Western Union account that would help her online to fix a computer problem she was having. She was told that this was a scam and she should not give her information out over the phone. Deputy Hoepner advised her to call the bank and get her credit card canceled and should they call back, tell them she had reported them to the police and hang up and contact the Sheriff’s Office.
On July 16, Reserve Deputy Thomas Hoepner responded to a report of a theft of a purse at Damariscotta Lake Park. The complainant stated that her purse was taken from her unlocked car while at the park. Her license, debit card, checkbook and $20 in cash were taken and Deputy Hoepner advised her to contact her bank to freeze her accounts, which she already had done. No suspects at this time.
On July 17, Reserve Deputy Richard Woodward was dispatched to a report of a theft of a Droid cell phone (value: $200) from outside of Maritime Farms in Newcastle. The phone was left unattended for a couple of minutes and when the complainant returned, it was missing.
On July 18, Reserve Deputy Richard Woodward was dispatched to a report of a theft of a fishing road and criminal mischief to approximately four to five gallons of gas in the Boothbay area. The complainant stated he noticed his fishing rod missing from his boat in the morning and when he went underway in his boat, he had trouble with his engine and noticed he had poured water from his gasoline can into the engine, which had previously had gasoline in it. Further investigation if leads develop.
Arrests
On July 22, Sean M. Hunter, 31, of Rockland was arrested for permitting unlawful use, on Route 129, South Bristol, by Deputy Aaron Beck.
On July 22, Dennis Jones, 25, of Wiscasset turned himself into Two Bridges Regional Jail on a probation hold and was arrested without incident by Sgt. Daniel Sceviour.

On July 11, Bruce White, 53, of Southport, failing to display an inspection sticker, Route 27, Boothbay Harbor, Sgt. Jason Nein
On July 15, Michael MacDonald, 17, of Wiscasset, failure to display a valid inspection sticker; operating with an expired driver’s license, Route 218, Wiscasset, Det. Terry Michaud.
Traffic Accidents
On July 18, an accident occurred on Route 1 in Edgecomb involving Leslie B. Lilly, 60, of Coconut Grove, Fla. Lilly was operating her 2011 Toyota Prius southbound when a deer entered the roadway, causing her to strike the deer with the front passenger’s side of the vehicle. Deputy Aaron Beck was the investigating officer.
On July 19, an accident occurred on McKay Road in Edgecomb involving Jeffrey Bowden, 61, of Greene. Bowden was operating his 2012 Chevrolet Express southbound and was turning onto Boothbay Road from Sawyer’s Way Antiques’ parking lot when he struck the mailbox. Deputy Kevin Dennison was the investigating officer.
On July 19, an accident occurred on Route 1 in Newcastle involving John S. Seigars, 74, of Alna and Deborah A. Neas, 63, of Phippsburg. Neas’ 2013 Subaru Impreza was parked legally when Seigars, who was operating his 2001 GMC Sierra, struck it. Deputy Brian Collamore was the investigating officer.
On July 19, an accident occurred on Indian Road in Dresden involving Dean R. York, 19, of Richmond. York was operating his 1995 Dodge 1500 pickup truck northbound and was traveling too fast for the roadway when he failed to negotiate a corner and struck a tree. Deputy Todd Chilton was the investigating officer.
