Sheriff's report
Sheriff Todd Brackett reports the following:
On July 23, Deputy Matthew Day took a report of a missing or stolen kayak (value: $600) in the Southport Island area. The kayak is described as a green, Old Town, one person, and is approximately 10 to 12 feet in length. The complainant is unsure if it came loose at the dock where it was located or was taken. Further investigation if leads develop.
Recent summons
On July 26, Melanie L. Major, 50, of Milford, Del. was issued a summons for Trafficking in Prison Contraband, at Two Bridges Regional Jail, Wiscasset, by Det. Sgt. Ronald Rollins.
Recent arrests
On July 26, Dustin R. Bibber, 24, of Boothbay was arrested on an outstanding Lincoln County warrant, on Ocean Point Road, Boothbay, by Deputy Kevin Dennison.
On July 28, Mathew Tedford, 22, of Edgecomb was arrested on an outstanding warrant for a Probation Violation, on McKay Road, Edgecomb, by Deputy Justin Drake.
Recent traffic citation
On July 22, Curtis Osborn, 27, of Boothbay Harbor – Operator failing to use a seat belt – Hardwick Rd., Boothbay – Sgt. Jason Nein.
Recent traffic accidents
On July 24, an accident occurred on Bath Road in Wiscasset involving Stephen E. Sass, 66, of Franklin Lakes, N.J., Melissa L. Sleeper, 35, of Woolwich and Darrell D. Wright, 38, of West Gardiner. Ms. Sleeper, who was operating her 2006 Ford Focus, was stopped in traffic to allow a vehicle to enter Route 1. Mr. Sass was stopped behind Ms. Sleeper’s vehicle in his 2012 Lexus ES. Mr. Wright was operating his 2002 GMC northbound and attempted to stop but his rear brake line ruptured and his vehicle struck Sass’ vehicle, which caused that vehicle to strike Sleeper’s vehicle. Sgt. Brendan Kane was the investigating officer.
On July 24, an accident occurred on Ocean Point Road in Boothbay involving Jean E. Philbrook, 90, of Boothbay and Thomas F. Fogarty, 70, of Trevett. Ms. Philbrook was backing her 2009 Hyundai Sonata out of her driveway and Mr. Fogarty was operating his 1998 Chevrolet Silverado northbound on Ocean Point Road. Mr. Fogarty pulled off the road and into the driveway to wait for subjects that were following him and Ms. Philbrook backed into his vehicle. Deputy Chad Gilbert was the investigating officer.
