Sign up for P.E.O. Games Day June 26
Local P.E.O. Chapter G, is hosting its fifth annual Games Day on June 26. There will be a sanctioned duplicate bridge tournament at the Boothbay Region YMCA. At the Inn at St. Andrews Village, party bridge, mahjong and other table games will take place.
For both venues, sign in and desserts will be served from noon to 1 p.m. Games will begin at 1 p.m. For tickets or reservations, call Ginger Rickeman at 207-350-5569. Tickets are $12.50 with all proceeds supporting P.E.O.'s six philanthropies which support the education of women.
The P.E.O Sisterhood, founded Jan. 21, 1869 at Iowa Wesleyan College, Mount Pleasant, Iowa is an international philanthropic and educational organization which promotes increased educational opportunities for women.
There are nearly 6,000 local chapters in the U.S. and Canada with almost 250,000 initiated members. The P.E.O. Sisterhood has over $250 million in financial assistance to over 95,000 recipients The P.E.O. Sisterhood also owns Cottey College, a fully accredited, private liberal arts and sciences college for women, with two- year and selected four-year programs, located in Nevada, Missouri.

Scholarship awarded
Chapter G of Brunswick recently presented the prestigious P.E.O. STAR Scholarship to Annie Healion, a senior at Reno Nevada High School. Healion is the granddaughter of Betty Healion of Brunswick. Healion has been accepted to Reed College where she plans to study international relations.
The P.E.O. STAR Scholarship is a $2,500 scholarship based on excellence in leadership, extracurricular activities, community service, academics and potential for future success. The program is open to young women who are citizens or legal permanent residents of the U.S. or Canada and who are graduating high school seniors at the time of application. A student must be recommended by a P.E.O. chapter.
