Skidompha book shop reopens for the season
The Skidompha Secondhand Book Shop in Damariscotta will reopen on Monday, Feb. 1, with its full schedule, after being closed for its regular January break.
During January, volunteers have been reorganizing some sections, changing the placement of shelves, and installing new shelves, to make it easier for customers to find what they’re looking for. The shop also has new lighting that adds to its brighter, more spacious feel.
Co-manager Rosie Bensen says, “A group of wonderful volunteers has made some exciting and imaginative changes to brighten the shop and improve the shopping experience. I hope everybody will come in and take a look.”
The shop’s regular hours are Monday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The shop is located on Elm Street, just up the hill from the library’s back parking lot. Customers may also buy books from the shop’s two “annex” displays -- at Yellowfront Grocery, and in the lobby of the library.
All items are donated, all staff members are volunteers, and all proceeds go to Skidompha Public Library. Donations are accepted at the shop whenever it’s open. Currently, the staff would especially appreciate the donation of hardcover fiction.
For more information about the shop, visit its page on the library website, Skidompha.org, or call 563-7807.
