South Bristol artist Duncan Halm at River Arts Gallery
Maine artist Duncan Halm is a painter and sculptor whose latest works-two small steel sculptures are part of a juried show called “My Community” at the River Arts Gallery in Damariscotta, Maine, on Route 1. This show was curated by Susan Danly, Senior Curator at Portland Museum of Art. The show closes on May 22. Halm studied with Jay Wholley at Ramapo College, and is now active in all disciplines.
Of late, Halm has been painting abstract works. In a recent phone interview, Halm revealed that he paints primarily nocturnally, and does a daily regime of representational drawing and abstract drawings. He is currently working on a large scale steel sculpture at his studio in South Bristol.
Some of the galleries which have shown Halm’s work include the Gold/Smith Gallery in Boothbay Harbor; The Gallery, Deering Street, Portland; The Art Stable Gallery and Patricia Anne Reed of Damariscotta; and Elements of Rockland. Currently, the River Gallery of Damariscotta is exhibiting one of Halm’s iconic grid paintings.
Collectors of Halm’s work are not only in Maine, but in Hong Kong, Germany and Mexico.
