Special election August 27
Less than a year after the 2012 elections, a replacement for departed Sen. Seth Goodall, D-Richmond, will be voted in Tuesday, Aug. 27.
A special election will be held Tuesday to fill the Maine State Senate District 19 seat vacated after Goodall, a three-term senator and senate majority leader, took a presidential appointment with the U.S. Small Business Administration.
District 19 covers one Lincoln County town, Dresden, and 10 Sagadahoc County communities, including Arrowsic, Bath, Bowdoin, Bowdoinham, Georgetown, Phippsburg, Richmond, Topsham, West Bath and Woolwich.
Voters will pick between three candidates for the one seat and they include Republican Paula Benoit of Phippsburg, Green Independent Daniel Longley Stromgren of Topsham and Democrat Eloise Vitelli of Arrowsic.
In Woolwich voters can cast ballots at the Woolwich school, while ballots are cast at Pownalborough Hall in Dresden. Both towns’ voting times are 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
