Stephen E. Alley
Stephen E. Alley passed away peacefully on Jan. 7, 2025.
Steve was born in East Boothbay, Maine on June 27, 1940 to Weston and Mary Alley and continued on to live all 84 years in East Boothbay. He was a member of the Boothbay Region High School class of 1958.
Steve met his wife Eleanor in 1960 and married in 1963 and they had a wonderful 61 years of marriage together.
He had a very diverse and well rounded work history being involved in many trades such as boat building including finishing his own boat the Eleanor Grace. Also excavation and working at his sawmill by Adams Pond. He spent much of his later life lobstering in Linekin Bay and could often be spotted with one of his grandsons on the stern. He was an entrepreneur and paved his own way through life mastering many skills throughout the years. He knew the value of hard work. He also served as selectman for the town of Boothbay for at least two terms.
In his free time he spent many years buying and selling antiques with his wife Eleanor. He was well known as an avid collector of Winchester rifles. He also enjoyed hunting and the occasional trip up north with family.
Steve was a member of Bayview Lodge #196 in East Boothbay for 55 years. He joined the Scottish Rite Valley of Rockland in 1999. Along with all of these things he had an expansive knowledge of history, especially in the Boothbay region. Often times he was called upon by family, friends, and even the Boothbay Region Historical Society for an accurate recount on local details.
Steve was predeceased by his parents Weston Alley and Mary Alley.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Eleanor; sons, Michael Alley and wife Rebecca, Daniel Alley and wife Angela; grandchildren, Weston Alley and wife Jasmine, Maxwell Alley and wife Kathleen, Brooke Bryant and husband Caleb, Hayden Alley and wife Alicia, Cameron Alley and fiancé Alyssa, and Sawyer Alley and fiancé Jaden; great-grandchildren, Savannah Alley, Madilynn Alley, Sunni Alley, Benjamin Alley, Brady Alley, Abigail Alley, and Emmett Bryant. He is also survived by a brother David, close friends, and loved ones around the community.
There will be a private family service and gathering planned for the spring of 2025.
