Steven Graham runs for Alna second selectman
Retired attorney and Alna resident Steven Graham is running for second selectman. The election will be held in March.
Until his retirement, Graham practiced law for almost 50 years, representing individual and business clients before numerous town boards in New England. “My work as an attorney allowed me to understand quite a bit about how small towns work and about the people who make them work,” said Graham. “I’d like to use that experience to benefit the town I call home.”
Graham and his wife Laura moved to Alna five years ago, drawn by the intimacy of the town and the opportunity to live along the Sheepscot River. In 2022, Steve was elected trustee of the Alna Cemetery.
As a volunteer, Graham has worked with town committees dedicated to senior and affordable housing. He spent 20 years helping to lead and grow a nonprofit that provided housing and educational and emotional support for girls and young women overcoming troubled or abusive family circumstances in Concord, Massachusetts and surrounding communities.
Acknowledging his volunteer service, the United Way selected Graham to be a Community Hero. That honor allowed him to be an Olympic torch bearer as the torch passed through Acton, Massachusetts on its way to the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta.
If elected to the Alna select board, Graham is committed to working with all residents of the town, ensuring that diverse points of view are heard and considered on select board matters. “Providing essential services for the town, while balancing the financial burden on all of us, is an important responsibility of the select board,” he said. “It’s key to ensuring that we all continue to enjoy life in Alna.”
