Story Time features Dr. Seuss
Dr. Seuss was celebrated during the last few weeks during Story Time at in the Children’s Room of the Wiscasset Public Library. Children, as well as, adults were quizzed on their knowledge of Dr. Seuss books and characters. Many adults failed!
“Hop on Pop,” “Green Eggs and Ham,” and the “Shape of me and other Stuff,” were a few of the books featured during these Story Times. This past week after the story, the children used Dr. Seuss characters finger puppets to put on a brief show. For some young ones, this was their first experience with performing with puppets.
The Children’s Room is pleased to have a display of several pieces of work of family art projects from the Wiscasset Head Start Program.
Local author and illustrator June and Bob Rose will return on Wednesday March 20 at 6 p.m. to read and present their new book “Message of the Owl,” a story for all ages. The book will be appreciated best by school children of all ages yet is perfect for grandchildren and grandparents to experience together.
The plot follows a quest by animals who characterize real personalities, familiar to us all- old and young alike. In fact, the readers may find a piece of themselves in this story. Most of the action occurs in Edgecomb around Poole’s Landing and the Old Ice Pond, near Bennett’s Neck. Bob’s illustrations give the book a dynamic charm with his special use of color and movement.
The Children’s Room is pleased to have been notified recently that it has been awarded a Libri Foundation’s Books for Children grant. An event is being planned for later in the year to celebrate the books that will be added to our collection through this grant.
