Strachan joins board of state insurance association
Suzanne Strachan, president of Cheney Insurance in Damariscotta, was elected to the Maine Insurance Agents Association (MIAA) Board of Directors recently. The MIAA represents and advocates for almost 200 independent insurance agency locations throughout the state and their staffs. Strachan will serve a three-year term.
As a member of the board for the MIAA, Suzanne will work closely with association staff and fellow board members to coordinate insurance education opportunities for licensed Maine agents, and she will be kept apprised of state and national legislative issues important to the industry.
“I am very excited to have this opportunity,” said Strachan. “The friendships and relationships I am already forging with other insurance professionals from around the state are so beneficial as I strive to operate Cheney Insurance in a forward-thinking and progressive manner. It is so valuable to be able to share ideas and ask questions of folks who face the same work challenges that I do.”
Dennis Hilton, CEO of The Cheney Financial Group which includes Cheney Insurance, Newcastle Realty, and Newcastle Vacation Rentals added “We are all excited and very proud of Suzanne as she joins the MIAA Board. This level of state association involvement will add great depth to her overall experience and is certain to contribute greatly toward her important role as the leader of our insurance agency operations.”
The Maine Insurance Agents Association was formed in 1899 and their office is in Hallowell. MIAA is part of the Independent Insurance Agents and Brokers of America (IIABA), which developed the consumer-facing Trusted Choice brand to help families and businesses understand the value of working with independent insurance agencies that represent many different insurance companies.
