Mara Abbott, a second grader at Wiscasset Primary School, placed first in the K-6 grade division of the FARMS (Focus on Agriculture in Rural Maine Schools) T-shirt design contest. She received recognition for her T-shirt design at the FARMS Annual Fundraising Mexican Fiesta Dinner held at the Lincoln Academy Dining Commons on Saturday, March 2.

Abby Plummer is the FARMS Coordinator for the Wiscasset Primary school and works to connect classrooms, cafeterias, local farms, and communities. FARMS mission is to educate students about good nutrition and the role of local farms in promoting healthy, sustainable communities and to promote and facilitate farm-to-institution purchasing. FARMS is dedicated to food security and to rebuilding a healthy food system.
