The artists
In 2010, Terry Seaman, along with his wife Heidi Seidelhuber, purchased Studio 53 in Boothbay Harbor. During the summer months, the gallery shows a variety of work, including the seven artists represented at the Grill. Seaman's technical handling of the beloved water color medium is based on mathematical progressions, proportional relationships and rhythmic sequences. Seidelhuber paints from the vantage point of the water line, learning intimately about her subject and the paint. She utilizes subjects common to the world of work, developing strong compositions and a sense of light. Both hold a B.F.A from Rhode Island School of Design and an M.F.A from Art Institute of Chicago.
Lynne Seitzer and artist husband, John M.T. Seitzer, opened Joy To The Wind Studio/Gallery in Boothbay Harbor in 1999. There they create art and teach the creative process. Lynne Seitzer's paintings, portraits, and card designs have been collected throughout the United States, Europe and Japan. Seitzer's work reflects his love for nature and the play of light through an eclectic range of styles from post-impressionism to abstraction. An award winning artist and art educator, Seitzer’s art work has received local, state and regional awards and has been exhibited in galleries from coast to coast.
Priscilla May Alden spends her days at Starfish Studio in Boothbay Harbor, designing and weaving tapestries, making monoprints, building 3D installations and playing. Her artwork is inspired by her love of color, texture, layering and patterns. The beautiful bold ocean landscape which surrounds her, travels to many countries, the landscape and culture of the Native American Southwest, strong connection to past cultures and architectural design background all inform her sense of design.
Paula Ragsdale, a graduate of Rhode Island School of Design, has been working out of her studio/gallery in Boothbay for the past 30 years, finding Maine’s pristine and natural beauty irresistible and inspiring. Ragsdale's paintings and mixed media works are held in many private and public collections, including the Farnsworth Museum.
Robert McKay’s love for painting maritime subjects developed during his youth. A resident of Boothbay Harbor, McKay enjoys sailing and painting his favorite subjects along the Maine coast.
