Studio 53 hosts Gov. LePage
Studio 53 Fine Art will host the Boothbay Harbor Region Chamber of Commerce’s Business After Hours from 5-7 p.m. on Wednesday, May 1 at 53 Townsend Avenue in Boothbay Harbor. Governor Paul LePage will be attending the Business After Hours hosted by Studio 53 for an informal meet and greet.
He values the voices of our business and community leaders and wants the opportunity to meet with these leaders to discuss the challenges we face locally, to help create solutions, eliminate red tape and use our limited resources more strategically.
Prior to being elected as Maine’s Chief Executive, LePage was mayor of Waterville from 2003 to 2011, and was a city councilor before that time. He worked in the private sector as general manager of the 14-store discount chain Marden’s Surplus and Salvage from 1996 until 2011.
Studio 53 will debut the retrospective show of the two dimensional work of gallery owner Terry Seaman at this Business After Hours. Included throughout the building will be work dating back 50 years and more, including a 1964 look at the footbridge and harbor from a cubist point of view (what was this kid thinking?) Well, Seaman's 50years older now and his work is still perplexing as his 2013 paintings and drawings exhibited in the front two rooms will demonstrate. All this art is made a bit more palatable by the food and wine being served and by piano music from Aaron Robinson.
There will also be door prizes so be sure to put your business card in the basket. If the weather cooperates, please remember to take a stroll throughout waterfront Sculpture Garden.
The arts have always been an important part of our community. Boothbay Harbor was recently included as one of America’s Top 12 Small-Town ArtPlaces, a new annual ArtPlace initiative recognizing smaller communities in the country where the arts are central to creating the kinds of places where people want to live, work, and visit.
The Boothbay Harbor Region Chamber of Commerce is opening up the Business After Hours to members and non-members. The event is complimentary to Chamber members and $10 per person for non-members. Proceeds from these events will go towards a stipend for the Chamber’s new Volunteer and Visitor Relations Internship. Visit www.boothbayharbor.com to register to attend.
