SVCA photo contest deadline approaches
Get those cameras out or search your favorite photos taken in the Sheepscot River Valley. The deadline for the Sheepscot Valley Conservation Association’s fifth annual “People’s Choice” photography contest is September 3. The contest is open to all who want to share their favorite images from the Sheepscot Watershed. Cash prizes of $100 for first place, $75 for second, and $50 for third will be awarded.
The winning photographs will be determined by popular vote of those attending SVCA’s fifth annual “Champagne on the Sheepscot” fundraising event being held in Wiscasset on September 14. The winners will be announced that evening. The photographer is not required to be present.
Contest rules are simple. Each person may submit up to two photographs of any subject so long as it is taken in the Sheepscot watershed. Each photograph, (ideally in an 8 by 10-inch format), must be mounted on a 9 by 11-inch foam core (black or white). Thanks to the generosity of Artsake Framing in Damariscotta, located on 155 Main Street in the back parking lot under The River Grill, entrants may get their photos mounted and shrink wrapped for a reduced rate of $5.
In addition, there should be no attribution on the front of the photo. The title of the image and the photographer's name, address, phone number and email address must be printed legibly on the back. The entry must be received by 4 p.m., September 3 at the Sheepscot Valley Conservation Association office at 624 Sheepscot Road, Newcastle, ME 04553 or at Artsake Framing, 155 Main Street in Damariscotta. Images will not be returned and may be used by SVCA, with attribution.
