Swimming accident victim named, still hospitalized
Bystanders come to man’s aid
The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office on Tuesday identified the swimmer rescued in a near-drowning accident near the Bristol Mills Dam on June 30. He is Peter W. Beauchamp, 73, of Bristol, the Sheriff’s Office reported in an email July 5.
Beauchampe was in a special care unit at Maine Medical Center in Portland on July 5, hospital staff said.
“Deputies have not had an opportunity to interview Mr. Beauchamp ... No new information has surfaced since last Thursday’s incident in which a preliminary investigation determined that this event was simply a tragic swimming accident,” the sheriff’s office states in Tuesday’s email.
