Thanks for the votes
Dear Editor:
I am thankful to the people of Alna, many of whom voted for me in the recent election. I believe I am a relative unknown, having moved to Alna 2 1/2 years ago after retiring from teaching. However, I have met neighbors and made many friends since I moved here, and they encouraged me to run for the position of school board member.
Two couples were kind enough to write glowing recommendations for me, which were published in this newspaper. With my decades of experience as a special education teacher and various union responsibilities, I felt that I had some valuable knowledge and skills to offer. Having dipped my toes in the waters of town politics by joining assorted committees in Alna in the past two years, I decided that I was ready to try a new role as school board member.
I want the people of Alna to know that I will do my very best to represent the interests of Alna's parents and children, ensuring access to a well-rounded education that instills a love of learning and leads to a successful future.
