“The Theory of Everything” (rated PG-13) is based on the memoir “Traveling to Infinity: My Life with Stephen” by Jane Wilde Hawking. Starring Eddie Redmayne ("Les Misérables") as Stephen Hawking and Felicity Jones ("The Amazing Spider-Man 2") as Jane Wilde, this is the extraordinary story of one of the world's greatest living minds, the renowned astrophysicist. Hawking falls deeply in love with fellow Cambridge student Jane.
At age 21, the once active and healthy Hawking begins having physical issues and receives an earth-shattering diagnosis. With Jane fighting tirelessly by his side, Stephen embarks on his most ambitious scientific work, studying the very thing he now has precious little of — time. Together, they defy impossible odds, breaking new ground in medicine and science, and achieving more than they could ever have dreamed.
The film, directed by Academy Award winner James Marsh ("Man on Wire"), plays Friday, Jan. 2, Saturday, Jan. 3, Wednesday, Jan. 7 and Thursday, Jan. 8 at 7 p.m. and Sunday, Jan. 4 at 2 p.m.

In “The Homesman,” three women who have been driven mad by pioneer life are to be transported across the country by covered wagon by the pious, independent-minded Mary Bee Cuddy, who in turn employs low-life drifter George Briggs to assist her.
