Two charged with trafficking prison contraband
The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office has charged two inmates at the Two Bridges Regional Jail with trafficking in prison contraband and one of the inmates with assault.
These charges stem from an investigation into an assault between two inmates, which took place at Two Bridges Regional Jail on the weekend of August 4.
The injured inmate received cuts on his face and the top of his head. These injuries did not require hospitalization.
Tyler McFarland, 32, of Gray, was charged with assault in this incident.
Further investigation discovered that McFarland and Mark Johnson, 31, of Bath were smuggling suboxone, a narcotic, into the jail.
The two men were then bartering and selling the suboxone to other inmates in the cellblock. The assault was not connected to the smuggling operation.
McFarland was charged with trafficking in prison contraband and assault.
Johnson was charged with trafficking in prison contraband.
The investigation is ongoing and further charges may be forthcoming.
