Detectives from the State Police Major Crimes Unit have arrested Jalique Keene, 21, of Bar Harbor, and charged him with murder in connection with the death of Mikaela Conley, 19, of Bar Harbor. Mikaela was reported missing Friday and her body was discovered around noon time on Saturday in Bar Harbor, police said in a news release.
Keene was taken into custody at the Bar Harbor Police Department June 4 and transported to the Hancock County Jail. His first court appearance will take place in an Ellsworth courtroom either Tuesday or Wednesday, depending on the court schedule.
The death was determined to be a homicide following work completed by the State Medical Examiner’s office that began yesterday and continued today. The cause of death is not being released at this time.
State Police say the body found alongside a Bar Harbor Street Saturday is Mikaela Conley, 19, of Bar Harbor.
An autopsy began Sunday at the State Medical Examiner's Office in Augusta and additional work remains. Conley had been reported missing by her family to Bar Harbor Police and an extensive search took place Saturday by a number of law enforcement agencies.
Her body was found near the intersection of Route 3 and West Street about noon Saturday. A team of State Police detectives was in Bar Harbor Sunday investigating her death and they will return on Monday.

Maine State Police are investigating the discovery of a woman's body in Bar Harbor this afternoon, June 2. The body was found about noon time at the intersection of Route 3 and West Street by a State Police canine.
The body has been transported to the State Medical Examiner's Office in Augusta for autopsy and identification, likely on Sunday, according to a news release from the Maine Office of Public Safety. The Bar Harbor Police and Fire departments, along with the Maine Warden Service, and Maine Marine Patrol, have assisted State Police detectives throughout the day.
