Valeria Lambert
Valeria “Beanie” Lambert, 95 years young of Farmington, passed away peacefully Feb. 23, 2025 after a life well lived at the Andwell Hospice House in Auburn.
She was born July 11, 1929, in Wiscasset, a daughter of Fred and Lydia Bean. She attended Wiscasset schools and Farmington Teachers College where she earned her education.
Valeria married Elvin Lambert in 1948, and soon after started growing their family while living in Riley. In 1959 they moved to Jay where they continued to raise their four children and Valeria dedicated herself to being a mother and housewife.
She attended the Jay Baptist Church where she sang in the choir, which was such a joy for her. Valeria spent a lot of time volunteering at schools to assist with administering immunizations, fundraising and collecting for numerous organizations, and was a member of the Ladies Aid for many years. She also had a deep love for the ocean and anything outside – cross country skiing, camping, walks in the woods, and scouting out birds and deer. A few of her greatest accomplishments include hiking every mountain in Maine, except Katahdin, as well as taking multiple canoe trips down the Allagash. She also spent time hiking sections of the Appalachian Trail.
Valeria is most remembered by her family for always being by her husband Elvin’s side doing everything as a team. Together they enjoyed Saturday night dinner and dancing with friends, bus tours around the country to see new places, and venturing around on their four-wheeler. In the late 90’s Elvin built their final home in Farmington with the help of family and friends. After Elvin’s passing in 2005, Valeria kept herself busy by helping with church suppers, travelling to visit her children and grandchildren, and meticulously maintaining their home – painting, weed whacking, mowing, raking, and more. Valeria did it all! She was the epitome of a hearty, old school, Mainer.
Valeria is survived by her four children: Bette (LaMay) and partner Bill Clardy of Livermore, Julie (Cook) and husband Peter of Auburn, Carol (Pedley) of Pembroke New Hampshire, and Peter of Livermore Falls; seven grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her loving husband Elvin and her half-brother Edgar Rankin.
Valeria will be missed dearly by all that knew her.
