Veggies to Table selected as beneficiary of Waldoboro Hannaford’s Fight Hunger bag program
Veggies to Table, a non-profit grow-to-donate vegetable and flower farm in Newcastle, has been selected by Hannaford Supermarkets as a beneficiary of their Fight Hunger Bag Program at their Waldoboro branch located at Kalers Corner Street #17 for all of December.
The Hannaford Fight Hunger Bag Program makes it easy for shoppers to give back to the community. Throughout the month of December, Veggies to Table will receive a $1 donation from every purchase of the $2.50 Fight Hunger Bag.
“We are so thankful to be selected for this opportunity as we enter the season of generosity and giving,” says Veggies to Table Executive Director Erica Berman. “The support from Hannaford and the community members who shop there means the world to us, particularly as we approach the winter holidays, when the stresses of food insecurity are sharpest.”
Fifteen out of a hundred of Maine families are food insecure—lacking consistent access to enough food for everyone in their households to lead healthy lives. The number of food-insecure children is even higher, at one out of five. Berman and her husband, Alain Ollier, founded Veggies to Table in 2019 to help address this great need.
Everything Veggies to Table grows, they donate in collaboration with 35+ local partners, including food pantries, schools, summer lunch programs and hospitals—filling hungry stomachs and lifting spirits along the way.
