Now through Wednesday and Thursday, Oct. 2 and 3, Thomaston Place Auction Galleries is pleased to present their Vintage Accents Fall Online-Only Auction. With the sale online now, buyers and prospective buyers have the opportunity to browse, bid and follow the sale. Starting 10 am each day the auction will go live online providing a full-spectrum auction experience for bidders. 

This exclusively online event invites bidders to join Thomaston Place on a virtual trip around the world. Open now, the sale features 1,000 lots of collectible and decorative objects sourced from Maine estates and representing decades of collecting, generations of family history and extensive worldwide travel – and all items are offered with modest opening bids.

The Vintage Accents auction affords collectors the opportunity to bid from virtually anywhere using a computer or handheld device. For maximum bidding convenience, the auction will run simultaneously on three online auction websites: Thomaston Live, LiveAuctioneers, and Invaluable.

“This format provides a level of convenience and flexibility that we are excited to offer,” said Thomaston Place Auction Galleries Vice President John Bottero. “Bidders can either follow the excitement of the auction as each lot sells or they can simply leave an absentee bid prior to the start of the auction, and set it and forget it.”

Bottero explained that on the two days of the sale the auction inventory will be offered just as it is sold during a live auction, providing the excitement of a traditional auction experience, but with the convenient option of bidding from any location.

On Wednesday, Oct. 2, the first portion of the sale will commence. Items slated to cross the online block will include a selection of American art glass, antiquities, Native American and African art, and an extensive group of Chinese, Japanese, South Asian, and Middle Eastern items.

On Thursday, Oct. 3, the auction inventory will include fine art paintings and prints, European porcelain, art glass and pottery, silver, jewelry, lighting, as well as a comprehensive collection of rare books, documents, and collectible ephemera.

Highlighted items include: a pair of 19th century Chinese porcelain rooster figurines; a lot containing 76 original silent movie photos; a Syrian chest with metal and bone inlay; an antebellum Mathew Brady daguerreotype photo portrait; a Ming Dynasty terra cotta figure of court official; two Roman pottery vessels; a pair of lamps crafted from 17th c. bronze altar candlesticks; two Gustav Keller French gent’s travel cases; six pieces of Herend Indian Basket pattern porcelain; a Weller Sicard Art Nouveau pottery vase; a pair of 1893 Walker & Hall English silver plate column form candlesticks; PLUS 35 lots of Japanese netsuke and okimonos; 36 lots of American art glass by Salamandra, Steven Lundberg, Steven Correia, John Gilmor and others; over 150 early books on travel and exploration of Egypt, the Far East, and Africa; and many lots of naval and maritime books.

The auction inventory can be viewed online now at any of the three websites where the auction will be hosted.  Participants may register and place pre-auction (or absentee) bids from now until the beginning of the live auction.
