Dear Editor:

Alna is fortunate that Ed Pentaleri is running for our town’s select board in March.

In his past service as a select board member, Ed’s competence has greatly benefited Alna. He has been an effective manager of meetings, listening patiently to the wide range of views expressed and then working toward thoughtful and productive solutions to the issues that relate to the business of the town. He has also been instrumental in improving the level of civility at town meetings. 

His practical experience in grant proposal writing and community action are capabilities that are already saving the town money. A Community Action Grant will eliminate most of our electricity costs (through solar panels on the roof of the fire department) and grant money for replacement of a key bridge (Egypt Road Bridge) will relieve the town of significant and ongoing costs of repair and maintenance. Ed is also committed to the overall health of the community through extensive volunteer work, including that related to our historic buildings and our food pantry.

 We urge Alna voters to support Ed Pentaleri’s candidacy for the Alna select board at the election on Friday, March 28.
