Watch for motorcycles, bicycles, etc.
Spring is here, with hopefully nicer weather each week – so out come the motorcycles, bicycles, more pedestrians, etc.
I was reminded of this while exiting a parking lot in Woolwich on Saturday. Being kind of blinded by a parked car, I started to move the car to enter the roadway when all of a sudden a motorcycle came out of an adjoining road (not sure if the motorcyclist yielded) and in front of me.
I have also seen a couple of bicyclists on local roads and soon more visitors will be arriving and crossing streets (hopefully they will be using the crosswalks). Not just here in the region – they will be everywhere.
Driving a vehicle is a job that requires alertness and keeping in mind that good weather brings out more action on the roads and on the sides of the roads is something all drivers need to be reminded of this time of year.
I have also been reminded of the potholes during the past month. Some local potholes have been patched but I await that one big one – like the one in my driveway that I will have to get fixed – where my car's suspension gets tested to the max!
Sometime soon, drivers will need to stay alert while driving on Route 27 when the work on that road will continue. It will be stop-and-go for several weeks so drivers need to be observant of the signage and watch their speed accordingly.
Be safe and keep your eyes open while behind the wheel.
