Water’s Edge Restaurant holds grand opening celebration
Shortly after arriving, invitees to Water's Edge Restaurant and Bar's grand opening celebration July 21 huddled shoulder to shoulder under a couple of awnings on the Edgecomb business's rooftop deck for about 10 minutes while a rainstorm rolled down the Sheepscot River.
After the rain stopped and the clouds parted, hors d'oeuvres were offered once again by servers, area guitarist Dave Gagne resumed playing and singing, and the crowd of about 60 people spread out on the deck and enjoyed conversations and cocktails before representatives from Wiscasset Area Chamber of Commerce and Boothbay Harbor Region Chamber of Commerce spoke and conducted a ribbon-cutting, welcoming the new business to their communities.
WACC Chairman Chip Davison and board members Jean Beattie Flynn (past chair) and treasurer Sheila Sawyer held one end of the ribbon while BHRCC Executive Director Lisa Walby and board members Julie Roberts, Alyssa Allen and Tricia Campbell held the other end so Midcoast Hospitality owner/president Scott Larson and Water's Edge co-owner Bruce Harris could cut the ribbon.
Larson thanked those gathered for attending and invited everyone to enjoy what the restaurant has to offer.
“If you get tired of riding around and around Boothbay Harbor trying to find a place to park so you can get to a restaurant down there, remember we have plenty of parking here and please come back to enjoy what chef Michael Adams has on the menu,” said Larson.
Larson introduced Davison who said the Wiscasset chamber was glad to see Water's Edge operating and that he was glad the chamber was part of the celebration. Larson also introduced and thanked Harris. “He is the person behind getting this restaurant up and running,” said Larson.
Midcoast Hospitality Group owns Sheepscot Harbour Village Resort and Water's Edge in Edgecomb, Linekin Bay Resort and Russell House B&B in Boothbay Harbor, Newagen Seaside Inn on Southport Island, and Smuggler's Cove Oceanfront Inn in East Boothbay.
