‘Water/Reflection Exhibition’ at River Arts
River Arts in Damariscotta, is inviting the public to the opening reception for its latest exhibition “Water/Reflection” on Friday, Sept. 5 from 5 to 7 p.m. Over 90 pieces of art in a wide variety of media by 65 Maine artists from Lubeck to Portland will be on view through Oct. 2.
Featured local artists in Boothbay Harbor: Thomas Block, Carol Fisher, Scott See; Boothbay: John Butke, Paula Ragsdale Arsenault, Mark Reilly; Damariscotta: Hannah Ineson, Susan Atwater, Jessica Lee Ives, Richard McFaul, Polly Steadman; East Boothbay: Sally Smith; Edgecomb: Kim Traina; Newcastle: Anna Shaw; Nobleboro: Elizabeth Palmer; Trevett: Jennifer Litchfield, Peter Felsenthal; Whitefield: John Polhemus, Cory Stafford; Woolwich: Sarah Harvey, Judith Austen.
The juror for the exhibition was Jacques Vesrey, an artist/sculptor from Damariscotta and a Maine resident of 20 years. Striving to create an illusion of reality, his vision and inspiration begins with repetitive patterns derived from the ‘golden mean’ or ‘divine proportions’. The marriage of pattern, form and proportion conveys a sense of growth from within each of his pieces. Jacques has lectured on design and concepts within his work in Europe, Canada, China, New Zealand, Australia and 28 US states.
River Arts is located at 241 US Route I (north), in Damariscotta, Maine. It is open Tuesday-Saturday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Sunday, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. For more information, call 207-563-1507 or visit the website www.riverartsme.org
