Dear Editor:

CNBC published their 2021 “Top States For Business” survey recently. Maine was near the bottom of the list at 48th. Maine earned an F in four categories: Infrastructure, Workforce, Access to Capital, and Technology and Innovation. We earned Ds in two categories: Cost of Doing Business and Economy. Education earned a C. The highest score earned were two Bs, one in Life, Health and inclusion, and another in Business Friendliness.

Maine had been near the bottom of this list for years. This is a damning report card for our state government. We, as citizens, should not accept this performance. Maine can do better. We can do better.
