This week at the Harbor Theatre
“Rock of Ages” plays Thursday night at 7 p.m. and Wes Anderson’s critically acclaimed “Moonrise Kingdom” opens Friday at The Harbor Theatre.
The film adaptation of the 2006 Chris D'Arienzo rock/jukebox Broadway musical, “Rock of Ages,” stars Diego Boneta, Julianne Hough, Russell Brand, Paul Giamatti, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Mary J. Blige, Malin Åkerman, Alec Baldwin, and Tom Cruise.
Directed by Adam Shankman, (“Hairspray”), “Rock of Ages” features the music of Bon Jovi, Guns N' Roses, Def Leppard, Foreigner, Journey, Poison, Whitesnake, Night Ranger, Twisted Sister, and REO Speedwagon.
On Friday, “Moonrise Kingdom” opens. Filmed in various places around Narragansett Bay, Rhode Island, it tells the story of twelve-year-old misfits Sam Shakusky and Suzy Bishop, who flee their summer residences on an idyllic New England island prompting a local search led by police Captain Sharp (Bruce Willis), Scout Master Randy Ward (Edward Norton), and Suzy’s parents Walt (Bill Murray) and Laura (Francis McDormand).
Minneapolis Star Tribune called “Moonrise Kingdom” “an unadulterated delight.” The Wall Street Journal describes it as being “beguiling and endearing.”
The film will be shown nightly through July 10 at 7 p.m., plus Sunday matinees at 3 p.m.
