This week at the Lincoln Theater
Looking for a fun outing to the movies? An afternoon of special effects, humor, action and adventure? Well you’re in luck because “Dungeons and Dragons: Honor Among Thieves” opens Friday! From a role-playing tabletop game to the big screen, “Dungeons and Dragons” doesn’t disappoint, going beyond the gamers and offering an adventure and escapism for movie fans across the board.
“Showing Up” - (R; 1 hour, 48 minutes) - A sculptor (Michelle Williams) preparing to open a new show must balance her creative life with the daily dramas of family and friends, in Kelly Reichardt’s vibrant and captivatingly funny portrait of art and craft. Final showtime Thu May 25 at 2 PM.
“Exhibition On Screen – Tokyo Stories” - (1 hour, 30 minutes) - A thrilling encounter with one of the world’s great art capitals. Based on a major exhibition at the Ashmolean in Oxford, Tokyo Stories spans 400 years of incredibly dynamic art – ranging from the delicate woodblock prints of Hokusai and Hiroshige, to Pop Art posters, contemporary photography, Manga, film, and brand-new artworks that were created on the streets. The exhibition was a smash-hit five-star success and brought a younger and more diverse audience to the museum. The film uses the exhibition as a launchpad to travel to Tokyo itself and explore the art and artists of the city more fully. A beautifully illustrated and richly detailed film, looking at a city which has undergone constant destruction and renewal over its 400-year history, resulting in one of the most vibrant and interesting cities on the planet… Playing Thu May 25 at 7 PM and Fri May 26 at 2 PM. Tickets: $15 adult, $13 members, and $5 youth 18 and under.

Fish Ladder Concert - The Adam Ezra Group is coming to Lincoln Theater, presented by the Fish Ladder Restoration Project. Opening band – Coyote Island. Working outside the confines of the traditional music industry, Adam Ezra and his bandmates – Corinna Smith (fiddle), Alex Martin (drums), Poche Ponce (bass) – built a community of fans through sheer grit and determination, regularly performing hundreds of shows a year for the past two decades without any major label or mainstream radio support. Fusing folk intimacy and rock energy with soul power and pop charm, the band first emerged from Boston in the early 2000s and quickly garnered widespread acclaim for their bold, insightful songwriting and interactive, euphoric performances. Coyote Island is the musical vision of producer/songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, Mike O’Hehir. For many years Mike travelled the country with guitar in hand collecting sounds and ideas. Upon returning home to Maine, he began the process of pouring his heart into recordings. With roots in folk music, the sound quickly expanded into a new genre-bending realm of psychedelic indie. Mike assembled a band of brothers in order to capture the expansive soundscape in a live setting. Sunday, May 28 at 4 p.m. Tickets: $40 general admission.
