"The Brutalist” - (R; 3 hours, 35 minutes - one 15 min. intermission - In English, Hungarian, Italian, Hebrew, Yiddish) - Escaping post-war Europe, visionary architect László Toth arrives in America to rebuild his life, his work, and his marriage to his wife Erzsébet after being forced apart during wartime by shifting borders and regimes. On his own in a strange new country, László settles in Pennsylvania, where the wealthy and prominent industrialist Harrison Lee Van Buren recognizes his talent for building. “All About Eve” - (1950; 2 hours, 18 minutes) - Classic Film Club final film - When Bette Davis says, “Fasten your seatbelts, it’s going to be a bumpy night,” strap in for a wild ride. From four-time Oscar winner Joseph L. Mankiewicz, “All About Eve” earned a record 14 Academy Award nominations and won six, including Best Picture, Supporting Actor, Director and Screenplay. Anne Baxter, George Sanders and Marilyn Monroe co-star in this critically acclaimed masterpiece. We are pleased to be joined at each Classic Film Club screening by film historian and CFC host, Jeannie MacDonald, for a pre-film introduction and post-screening talkback.
