"No Other Land" - (NR; 1 hour, 35 minutes) - A collective of Palestinian and Israeli activist/filmmakers chronicle the Israeli military’s incremental expulsion of the West Bank community of Masafer Yatta — home to 20 ancient Palestinian villages — in this tightly focused, urgent documentary. Over a period of five years (2019–23), Masafer Yatta resident and Palestinian journalist Basel Adra shoots video of home, school, water well, and road demolitions (legalized by the area’s conversion to an IDF training zone) and their consequent protests by displaced residents. Final show: Thursday, March 27 at 2 p.m.
"Dr. Strangelove" - (R; 2 hours, 30 minutes) - National Theatre Live - Co-adapted by Armando Iannuccico-adapted and directed by Sean Foley. Seven-time BAFTA Award-winner Steve Coogan plays four roles in the world premiere stage adaptation of Stanley Kubrick’s comedy masterpiece Dr. Strangelove. This explosively funny political satire, about a rogue U.S General who triggers a nuclear attack, is led by a world-renowned creative team including Emmy Award-winner Armando Iannucci and Olivier Award-winner Sean Foley. "I’m Still Here" - (PG-13; 2 hours, 15 minutes - in Brazilian and Portuguese with English subtitles) - Academy Award Winner – Best International Film. A mother is forced to reinvent herself when her family's life is shattered by an act of arbitrary violence during the tightening grip of a military dictatorship in Brazil, 1971. "The Mitchells Vs. The Machines" - (PG; 1 hour, 54 minutes) - Free family film! - Young Katie Mitchell embarks on a road trip with her proud parents, younger brother, and beloved dog, to start her first year at film school. But their plans to bond as a family soon get interrupted when the world's electronic devices come to life to stage an uprising. With help from two friendly robots, the Mitchells must now come together to save one another -- and the planet -- from the new technological revolution. Free and non-ticketed, the film plays Sunday, March 30 at 12:30 p.m.
Talking Art in Maine with John Moore - Hosted by artist Emily Sabino, this is a series of live, one-on-one conversations with notable artists and curators who've made a substantial contribution to the arts in Maine. Moore’s work can be found in public collections nationwide, including The Art Institute of Chicago; The Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York; The Museum of Fine Arts, Boston; Neuberger Museum, Purchase, NY; The Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Art, Philadelphia; The Philadelphia Museum of Art; and The San Francisco Museum of Modern Art.
