Welcome back?
My co-workers greeted me Monday morning, asking about the highlights of my 11-day vacation, six days in Omaha, Nebraska, where my wife and I attended our nephew’s rehearsal dinner, wedding and stayed with our son and daughter-in-law. If you’ve never been to Omaha, it is still growing (lots of road construction going on there, too) and there are plenty of restaurants, breweries and other things to do. We even played an indoor mini golf course.
We left Boothbay just as our new online system was being implemented. Did I feel guilty leaving my co-workers to handle the job? Of course, but not too much because, after a busy spring and summer, the time off was necessary for my sanity.
Well, my sanity has been stretched in the two days of working with the new system as numerous problems have continued and arisen from what we are used to doing, and what you, the reader, are missing. It has been frustrating for all of us but not knowing how quickly things can be fixed is the hardest part. The editorial staff is not tech savvy when it comes to knowing how things work in online work. We are depending on those who know how things work and when it will be “back to normal” is unknown as I write. We are sorry for the inconvenience.
All I know is that the changeover was necessary as the old system is due to expire at the end of the year.
We had a great time with relatives in Omaha but it is good to be back in Maine, specifically on the home turf, where the pace is slower … but the workload of getting you the news seems to be cranking up to the pace of a big city.
Hang tight, readers. We’ll get there!
