Westport Island fills school board seat
Monday night via UberConference, Westport Island selectmen named Mary Coventry to Sheepscot Valley Regional School Unit 12’s board and husband Richard Coventry to the Wright House Committee.
No one ran on the ballot for the school board seat and selectmen said no one wanted it. “She’ll be great,” Deputy Municipal Agent Gaye Wagner said. “Yeah, I believe she would,” First Selectman George Richardson agreed. “I think Mary Coventry would do an excellent job,” Second Selectman Gerald Bodmer said. The appointment runs until next year’s town meeting, Richardson said.
Work on North End Road will start this month and be done by October’s end, Richardson said.
Selectmen praised B. Fabiano Trucking’s paving at Wright Landing and discussed paying the firm the $1,700 it offered to do the job for. “It was worth the money,” Bodmer said.
As for Wright House’s fuel tank, Richardson said he and Bodmer have looked at it and seen no leaks. Selectmen voted not to replace it this year.
