Westport Island to seek more pandemic aid
In a 12-minute UberConference Monday night, the Westport Island Select Board approved a request by Jeff Tarbox on behalf of the Westport Democratic Committee to hold a Labor Day picnic at the town hall Monday, Sept. 7. Tarbox, chair of the committee, said in accordance with social distancing recommendations the group will meet outside and wear face masks.
The group wants to use the town hall’s kitchen. Tarbox said the event is open to everyone, all ages.
At 4:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 6, the select board will hold a public hearing for a pier, ramp and float permit Damian and Katrina Sedney of Greenleaf Road are seeking.
The board authorized Deputy EMA Director Gaye Wagner to apply for the second round of state COVID-19 funding offered through the Keeping Maine Heathy program. Wagner said the town would not be given priority because it received funds in the first round. It would still be beneficial to apply, she said.
The town has bought an awning for Municipal Agent Dedee Greenleaf-Hodgdon’s walk-up window at the town office with Keep Maine Healthy funding.
