George D. Richardson, Jr. began his 20^th year as chairman of the Westport Island select board when his official appointment was signed by fellow selectmen Ross Norton and Jerry Bodmer on Monday, July 9. It also began Richardson’s 27^th year as a selectman.

The appointment was one of several the board has authorized over the past two weeks. With his recent election, Jerry Bodmer begins his seventh year on the board. Ross Norton is in his tenth year on the board. 

Appointments for the coming year include: Martha Hayward, administrative assistant, treasurer, tax collector, and deputy municipal agent and excise tax collector; Dedee Greenleaf-Hodgdon, Julie Casson and Gaye Wagner were appointed deputy treasurers and tax collectors, deputy municipal agents and excise tax collectors for one year; Gary Richardson was appointed code enforcement officer and Ronald Stoodley as deputy code enforcement officer for the coming year.

Amos (Buddy) Greenleaf will serve a one-year term as constable and animal control officer with Gary Webber as deputy. Stacey Hutchison is fire chief for the coming year and Roger Higgins is director and Gaye Wagner deputy director of emergency management and civil defense for one year

Other one-year appointees are Gary Richardson, code enforcement officer; Ronald Stoodley, deputy code enforcement officer; Amos (Buddy) Greenleaf, constable and animal control officer with Gary Webber as deputy; Stacey Hutchison, fire chief; Roger Higgins, director and Gaye Wagner, deputy director of emergency management and civil defense; E-911 addressing officer, Richard Gray; general assistance administrator, George Richardson; and harbor master and port wardens, Frank Gallagher and Daniel Bradford as deputy. Julie Casson is town clerk and registrar for a year and Wagner, Greenleaf-Hodgdon and Hayward are deputies.

Bodmer has a three-year term as plumbing inspector Jerry Bodmer and Neil Cavanaugh is deputy, a one-year term.
