“When Light Seems Lost” series at First Congo
Winter is a time of darkness. As we move to spring, the light can seem to be slow in returning. Join the First Congregational Church of Wiscasset as Rev. Josh Fitterling begins a Lenten preaching series “When Light Seems Lost” on Sunday, March 10 at 10 a.m. For the next seven weeks, the sermon will reflect on the times in our lives when it can feel like darkness is winning and light is fading. The journey toward Easter reminds us that the Light of God will never be lost. A Lenten candle ceremony will take place as one of seven candles is extinguished each Lenten Sunday with all candles relit on Sunday, April 21, Easter day.
A five-week Lenten Study Series, co-led by Rev. Fitterling and Rev. Oscar Wallace, will begin on Wednesday, March 13 from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. in Fellowship Hall. “Faithfully Facing Death”, using faith as our guide, will explore mortality, suffering, pain, death, and the celebration of life. Discussion will include practical information for advanced planning and decision making, as well as offering a place for us to wrestle with this often difficult subject.
