William Dunton
William “Bill” Dunton marked his 80th birthday on April 22 and embarked on his final journey the following day.
He was born April 22, 1942 to Luther and Pauline Dunton in Boothbay Harbor, graduated from Boothbay Region High School and attended the University of Maine at Orono.
Bill’s entire career was with Sears. He started at Sears in Bangor, moved to Presque Isle, then Farmington The Hometown Store is the last one still open in Maine and is owned by his grandson.
Bill has been a longtime Masonic member and active with the Lincoln County Republicans.
Fishing was Bill’s passion, especially trying to find the elusive blue fin tuna. He obtained his Captain’s license in 1985.
Bill is survived by his wife Katherine; his daughters Sandra (William) Schubert, Morgan Willa Dunton (born Patsy Ann), Cheri (Richard) Blouin; his son Brian (Rebecca) Dunton; sister Blanch Boggs; 10 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
Family and friends are invited to a Celebration of Life Friday, May 6 at 1 p.m. at American Legion Post 36, 25 Industrial Park Road, Boothbay.
