William A. Kautzmann
William A. Kautzmann 88, of Presley Drive, East Boothbay, died May 19, 2017 at Miles Memorial Hospital, Damariscotta.
“Bill” was born in Englewood, N.J., the son of the late Fred and Louise (Plattenburg) Kautzmann. He attended and graduated from Tenafly High School in Tenafly, New Jersey. He was a United States veteran of the Korean Conflict.
Bill married Marguerite, who predeceased him in 2011. He was employed for 30 years with Bell Atlantic Telephone Company until his retirement in 1986. While living in New Jersey, he was very active with the Demarest, N.J. Fire Department.
After moving to the Boothbay region, Bill became involved with the Boothbay Fire Department. He had a passion for gardening and was a member of The Maine Rhododendron Society. He served as a board member and past president of the Boothbay Transfer Station. He was a member of the Boothbay Harbor Rotary Club, and volunteered with the town of Boothbay 911 system. Bill was well known for his homemade jams at Mama D’s restaurant.
Bill was predeceased by his parents, and his wife Marguerite.
He is survived by his daughter, Elizabeth and her husband Frank Callaghan of Cresskill, New Jersey; son, Kevin Kautzmann of Closter, New Jersey; and granddaughter, Rebecca “Becky” Callaghan of Cresskill, New Jersey.
