Windy City Open Ballroom Dance Competition
On Saturday, March 24 in Chicago, Alina Blakesley, student with ballroom teacher Krisztian Timar placed First in the Latin dances - cha cha, rumba, and samba; and Second in the Standard Ballroom style - waltz, tango, foxtrot and quickstep.
Blakesley won $425 in prize money and took home three medals ... some perfect gift to celebrate her 75th birthday, yes?
Her first competition was in 2009 at a professional amateur event, the Eastern Dance Sport Competition in Boston.
Where’s the next competition for the dancer who hails from Nottingham, England and longtime Bayville resident? Alina Blakesley will be packing her dancing gown and shoes for a much longer trip to Vienna and Budapest!
