Wiscasset does not unload SVRSU students at WMHS Oct. 2; WMHS’s SVRSU students back in school Monday, Oct. 5
The following letter dated Friday from Wiscasset Middle High School Principal Charles Lomonte has appeared on Wiscasset School Department’s website, wiscassetschools.org:
“I wanted to share with you today’s events that occurred with (Sheepscot Valley Regional School Unit) 12 students attending WMHS. This morning as students were arriving at school, WMHS administration learned that all elementary RSU 12 students were all going to attend school fully remotely.
“As a precautionary measure, we did not unload students of RSU 12 here at Wiscasset not knowing any risk of exposure. We sent them home and had them attend their WMHS classes and BRCTC classes remotely until further detailed information was available regarding the closure. RSU 12 administration reports there was no exposure to any students attending Wiscasset. We apologize if this caused anyone undue hardship. As you know the safety and welfare of all our students is our first priority.
“At this time, all WMHS RSU 12 students will be attending Wiscasset classes as regularly scheduled on Monday, Oct. 5, 2020.
“If you have any further questions please do not hesitate to call (the) WMHS office (at) 882-7722. Thanks again for your understanding and support.”
SVRSU’s schools are fully remote through Tuesday, Oct. 6 after someone associated with Windsor Elementary School tested positive for COVID-19 and another person associated with the same school had a probable case, SVRSU Superintendent Howard Tuttle has said.
