A small fire in a garage New Year’s Eve was mostly out when the Wiscasset Fire Department arrived, Deputy Fire Chief John Merry said in a phone interview from the fire station Sunday night.

The department was called to the Robertson residence at 8 Brookside Lane off West Alna Road at 8:58 p.m., Merry said. An occupant had the fire mostly out, he said

No one was hurt. The fire’s cause was probably improper disposal of fireworks, Merry said.
