The Garden Club of Wiscasset held its first meeting of the new season on Thursday, Sept. 4 at the First Congregational Church in Wiscasset. The guest speaker was Elizabeth Rodenz, a member of the club who presented us with a fascinating talk on composting and "gardening 101."

Her "homemade" recipes for fertilizing (when and what to use), ridding our gardens of pests and generally how to grow and have flowers and vegetables excel without using chemicals was of interest to all in attendance.

The next scheduled meeting of the club will be held on Oct. 2 at 12:30 p.m. at the First Congregational Church in Wiscasset. The program will feature Amy LeBlanc speaking on "Culinary Herbs." Guests are welcome.
