Wiscasset jewelry designer's creations available in Damariscotta
Gifts at 136, the Maine-made artisan gallery in downtown Damariscotta, has added classic and contemporary jewelry designs by Donna Barnako of Wiscasset.
“I am honored to have my necklaces, bracelets, earrings and brooches offered in the Gallery along with the work of more than a dozen unique creative artists,” Barnako said.
Barnako describes her most popular pieces “assemblages,” jewelry items which are more than a special stone or a beautiful piece of metal.
The metals used as the base of her “assemblages” are of gold, silver, brass or bronze, which she etches with acid. Unique gems and antique artifacts are added – most, Barnako said she finds in Maine.
“Because they're so special, I frequently make them to be worn as a brooch or pendant,” Barnako said. “Each piece of jewelry is one-of-a-kind.”
Gifts at 136, chosen “Best Gallery” by the readers of Down East Magazine, is located at 136 Main Street and is open daily.
