Wiscasset names interim superintendent of schools
Wiscasset has picked its interim superintendent of schools. According to draft minutes at wiscasset schools.org of the May 10 school committee meeting, members voted 5-0 to hire Robert England Jr. for the 2022-23 school year.
The vote followed an eight-minute executive session on the superintendent search, according to the meeting’s draft minutes.
Superintendent of Schools Terry Wood resigned in early 2022, effective June 30.
In other news from the meeting, according to the draft minutes and Administrative Assistant Janelle Skillin May 11, new hires include Rebecca Griffin, Wiscasset Middle High School math teacher; Mary Plowden and Sheila Frankonis, educational technicians III at WMHS; and school bus driver Laurie Berry, a rehire after Barry decided not to retire, Skillin said.
Resigning are WMHS science teacher Seth Platukis, WMHS educational technician/technology assistant Nate Austin and WMHS social studies teacher Brad Lopes; and Wiscasset Elementary School educational technician III Ellen Sorensen is retiring.
