Wiscasset notes public works’ storm work
After the recent storm, we want to take a moment to recognize the dedication of our Public Works team. They spent over 30 straight hours, sacrificing their Sunday and their Monday holiday time with their families, clearing our town’s roads, often through adverse conditions, to ensure that emergency vehicles and the public could travel as safely as possible.
We know that storms bring frustration, and many have concerns about sidewalks not being cleared as quickly as they’d like. While sidewalks are important, keeping roads passable for emergency responders and essential travel is always the top priority, as is the cleanup and further removal of accumulated snow banks and clearing parking areas after the storm. Our Public Works team does everything they can with the resources available to tackle a job that affects every corner of our town.
Instead of focusing on what couldn’t be done fast enough, let’s take a moment to appreciate what was: roads cleared under adverse conditions, and our Public Works crew continues to serve no matter the weather. Their work makes a difference, and they deserve our thanks.
