Wiscasset’s Museum in the Streets moves closer to launch
Wiscasset’s Museum in the Streets continues to make progress.
Committee President Ed Kavanagh of Wiscasset announced this week that, “We are very pleased to announce that the panels are in production and we now have a target launch date of June 21, 2014.” The committee met last week to discuss what remains to be done and to begin planning the launch. Kavanagh went on to say that over 100 Wiscasset households, businesses and organizations have contributed to making this project a reality. “Wiscasset’s Museum in the Streets is truly a community project and that’s wonderful to see.”
The committee has raised over $25,000 so far from generous individuals, families and local businesses, but needs additional contributions to cover remaining costs. These include production of the posts to hold the panels, design and printing of the walking tour maps, map/brochure holders and the creation of a website that would include additional historic photos and information that would not fit on the historic walking tour panels.
“These amazing and compelling photos will have you coming back to look at them time and time again,” Kavanagh said. “We still have to raise additional funds to complete the project, but we are really close. Everyone’s contributions help.”
